Support at Home fee estimator
Most people are now aware of the introduction of personal out-of-pocket contributions that participants are required to pay toward the cost of their care and services under Support at Home.
Transitioned home care package participants who have their fee contributions grandfathered will likely make no personal contribution at all, unless they have an income above the full Age Pension.
Anyone assessed as eligible for a home care package or Support at Home classification after 12 September 2024 is required to contribute to the services they receive from the Independence and Everyday Living support categories.
To help plan and prepare yourself for what to expect, you can estimate your Support at Home fees using the free online tool on the My Aged Care website: https://www.myagedcare.gov.au/support-at-home-fee-estimator
To use the estimator, you will need to provide information about your income and assets to get an idea of how much you might need to contribute, but the final costs will be determined by Services Australia after a formal assessment.
Before you start
Gather the relevant information and be prepared to provide details about your income and assets. You can use the Support at Home income and assets checklist to help you organise this information beforehand.
You'll need to disclose:
- Your pension status
- Your annual income and annual pension income
- The total value of your assets, excluding your home
Answer the questions & review the estimate
The estimator will ask you a series of questions based on the information you provide. The tool will provide an estimated breakdown of your costs and fees, but remember this is only an estimate.
You can call My Aged Care on 1800 200 422 for more information about using the Fee Estimator, or speak to your care partner for some assistance.
