Reforms 2025
The Aged Care Reform
From November 2025, the Australian Government is introducing a new funding program called Support at Home (SAH). This new program will replace the current Home Care Package (HCP).
About Support at Home (SAH)
Goals of the program
- Lower Management Fees
Management fees capped at 10%, down from a possible 35%, so more of your funding goes directly to your care and support services.
- 300,000 New Care Packages
300,000 new care packages will be rolled out over the next 10 years, significantly expanding access to aged care services across Australia.
- Faster Approval Times
Approval wait times are expected to drop to under 3 months by July 2027, ensuring you get the care you need when you need it.
- Quarterly Budget System
No more 'levels'—instead, you'll receive a quarterly budget tailored to your specific needs, providing greater flexibility and control.
- Additional Support Programs
Beyond the main SAH program, now Additional Targeted Programs exist to help specific groups of people maintain their independence.
- Assistive Technology Fund
A new Assistive Technology & Home Modifications fund of up to $15,000, available upfront to help you maintain independence and safety at home.
